‘Route du Rhum-Destination Guadeloupe’ is not just a race in November: it’s a long-distance race. With only a few weeks to go before the competition, David Ducosson and his small family team are not skimping on the work, including the complete refurbishment of the rigging, the launching and refitting of the boat, the first test sails, the qualification and marking of the boat.

«There are always new stages, new challenges to take up, it’s very intense.” Now in the midst of taming Trilogic, his own fifteen-meter trimaran, the Guadeloupe-born sailor is moving forward one step at a time: testing and making the final adjustments, analyzing and deciphering the boat’s reactions and, above all, sailing in all possible sea and wind conditions. “It’s an interesting time! The boat is good, she is fast. I enjoy sailing and testing my choices, although sometimes I have to undo and redo, to do it right.»

The preparation looks like a family project: David is supported by his partner Adeline, in charge of the administration, by his sister-in-law Lucie for the communication and by his brother Laurent, a technical trainer who came from Guadeloupe as a reinforcement. A reduced number of people who still challenge the Trilogic team before departure on November 6.

Among all his new partnerships, David Ducosson is delighted with the one with the insurer GFA Caraïbes. A historic yawl partner in Martinique for more than ten years, and committed for even longer to sponsoring high-level sporting events related to the sea, GFA Caraïbes was a logical, happy choice for David Ducosson in his search for sponsors. The local insurance company is very pleased with this alliance: «We are committed to supporting our compatriots in their sporting challenges. David Ducosson, the only Guadeloupean skipper competing on a multihull in this legendary race, sought a partnership with GFA Caraïbes last January. Our interest was twofold, since David Ducosson associates his participation in the legendary Route du Rhum with the association DYS de Cœur that supports children affected by disorders such as dyslexia, dyscalculia… We hope that our winged lion will bring him luck on board the Trilogic.»
