Once again this year, the culinary diversity of Saint Martin will be in the spotlight during the island’s Gastronomy Festival. Organized by the St. Martin Tourist Office, the event will take place on November 11 & 12 with a schedule that appeals to people of all ages. Local chefs as well as those of international stature will awaken the taste buds and maybe even attract acolytes though fun cooking workshops at various levels for children as well as adults.

ACCLAIMED TOQUES ~Big names on the culinary scene have been invited: Laurent Huguet, starred chef from Alsace; Lionel Lévy from InterContinental Marseille, a one-star Michelin; Ilham Moudnib, pastry chef from Brittany, finalist on MasterChef, at the French dessert championship, and the Women’s World Cup for pastry; Vladimir François-Maïkoouva, a chef from Martinique who evolved in iconic Parisian restaurants, as well as Rafael Pires from Brazil and Daniel Vezina from Canada. The patron chef of the 2022 Festival is Nicolas Sale, a two-star Michelin chef who has participated as a jury member on Top Chef, and was formerly the head chef for the restaurants at The Ritz in Paris.

A competition will challenge the students of the hotel/restauration sector, and the winners will have the opportunity to take part in a training program in one of the winning restaurants or with one of the guest chefs. A short training course in a French school and cooking equipment are also among the prizes.

EXHIBIT~A Gastronomy Village adds to the excitement on November 18-20, with tastings and an introduction to fine cuisine… The goal is to present the culinary diversity of the island and honor the cultural heritage of Saint Martin.
