ARNAUD DOLMEN: A DRUMMER WITH AN EXCEPTIONAL CAREER

Arnaud Dolmen : un batteur au palmarès hors du commun

A drummer and composer from Guadeloupe, Arnaud Dolmen has accumulated numerous distinctions throughout his 15-year career on the international jazz scene. 2022 was a really big year and his talent leads one to imagine that this is just a beginning. A look at his exceptional career.

Born in Sainte Anne, Guadeloupe, drummer, composer, and producer Arnaud Dolmen, has evolved into one of the most acclaimed musicians of his generation. Sideman for top artists—Mario Canonge, Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Olivier Ker Ourio, David Linx… Arnaud Dolmen is also a brilliant leader for numerous projects of his own. His two albums comprising personal compositions, Tonbé Lévé (2017) and Adjusting (2022), garnered quite a bit of attention.

This master of polyrhythms—who has appeared on more than 80 albums—is also a man of many distinctions. “Revelation Of The Year 2017,” and “Top 5 Best Drummers of 2021,” according to Jazz Magazine and JazzNews; “Top 3 Personalities of 2021,” according to France-Antilles Guadeloupe, Victoire du Jazz in the “Revelation” category in 2022… he was also crowned with the title “Best French Musician Of The Year 2022” and listed in the “Top 3 Best French drummers of 2022.” And Adjusting was among the “Top 40 Best Albums of 2022.” Quite the list…

Currently living in metropolitan France, he has also been recognized by his native region. Awarded the Medal of Honor from the town of Sainte Anne last April 10, he was welcomed as a hero at the Guadeloupe Pôle Caraïbes Airport after his Victoire du Jazz several months later. His career regularly takes him to the four corners of the world, but some lucky fans were able to hear him play recently with Jonathan Jurion at the start of the cultural season at L’Artchipel—the national theatre of Guadeloupe in Basse-Terre—or on the big stage at Memorial ACTe during the festivities for the Route du Rhum. He was accompanied by Ralph Thamar, Marion Canonge, and Alex Bernard.

At the start of 2023, this young artist, now in residence at La Dynamo in Pantin, is already scheduled for numerous performances that can be found listed on his website and social media.
