E.SY KEENENGA, RETURN OF THE SOLIDER OF PEACE AND LOVE

Author, composer, and singer from Martinique, E.sy Kennenga radiates sunshine. His contagious good humor is reflected in his music: positive and full of joy. He has shared his new album, consisting of chapters 3 and 4 of his “travel diary of a soldier of peace and love” with OnAir.

E.Sy Kennenga grew up in a musical universe in Martinique, shaping his childhood. Surrounded by a family of musicians, he started to play the guitar at the age of four, and as a teenager played in his first band, One Day. He began writing songs, and first appeared on stage and in the studio to create his first two albums, «Un jour» in 2001, followed by «Il Faut Le Dire» in 2003.

From his early collaborative experiences, he later followed the path of a solo artist and fine-tuned his unique, easily recognizable, style. From the frontiers of Reggae-Ragga-Dancehall by way of Soul, the music of E.Sy Kennenga successfully synthesizes the musical richness of the cosmopolitan Caribbean.

His combination of guitar and voice rapidly led to the success of his first solo albums. His early concerts were sold-out, in the islands as well as in mainland France, which was reassuring, as the authenticity of his music conveys an unusual sense of magnetism.

In the same spirit, he shares his newest album, which comprises chapters 3 and 4 of his  “Carnet de voyage d’un Solda Lanmou” (Travel diary of a soldier of peace and love), the first part of which was released in 2016. With 18 new songs, he provides us with a testimony of his most recent interior adventures. As he tells us, “my travel diaries are stories that come from the bottom of my heart. I took the time to  write down some of my feelings and challenges, my joy and my pain, my victories and my lessons learned, as well as the choices, encounters, and experiences I have had along my incredible journey. This is also my first self-produced project via the label I founded with my brother Mustaf: EK Prod, in close collaboration with my mentor Joël Jaccoulet (B Caribbean / 2J MusiQ). I put my entire heart and my soul into this album, with the hope that my stories, my thoughts, and my experiences will inspire those who listen to it.”

The album is available on all music platforms, and some lucky fans might have already heard him play on stage at the Atrium in Martinique, LaCaz’Art in Guadeloupe, and New Morning in Paris. Additional dates are planned for next year.

In other news, E.Sy continues his “Concérences,” an interesting cross between a conference and a concert, which allow him to discuss his artistic, philosophic, and spiritual attitudes with his audiences. The next series will be based on the theme of “Give yourself the means, no excuses,” and will take place in Paris and in French Guiana at the end of the year.
