CREATIVE FREEDOM ~ There was surprise and fascination in the eyes of art lovers at the opening of Steek Oner’s new exhibition. Named FANM GWADLOUP, it was held at Fit Food Açai Bar on Thursday August 27 for 24 hours. The artist shares his approach: “In full lockdown, I felt desire and a need to refocus on what ultimately inspires me the most: Woman and Guadeloupe, that I wanted to bring together through a series of drawings. This project started from a simple desire, without ref lection, without a predefined path. I opened up my Instagram and came across Erika’s picture, I asked her for the rights, she said yes and I started. Since then, other models have come forward and I would like to thank all my Muses. ”

WORLD CHAMPION ~ Benoit Bottala aka Steek, a self-taught artist, entered the World of Graffiti in the late 1990s in Guadeloupe. After many trips as well as meetings with international and local artists, he decided in 2006 to devote himself fully to painting. He participated in several exhibitions in the Caribbean, in France, and also in Canada and the United States. In 2010, he discovered bodypainting and in 2017 he became the new Bodypainting World Champion in the pro airbrush category in Austria. He met the same success in 2018 and then in 2019, becoming the first French artist to be triple world champion in bodypainting. Aerosol on wall, airbrush on body… Steek then decided to mix these tools on his canvases. He still surprises with his new women’s portraits, precise, expressive and surprisingly luminous in a thousand shades of gray.
